Liturgical Services at the 2005 Winter Retreat - 12/30/05

¡Feliz Navidad! Christ is Born! Glorify Him! ¡Cristo A Nacido! ¡Glorifíquenlo!

"I put before you the one great thing to love on earth: the Blessed Sacrament. There you will find romance, glory, honor, fidelity and the true way of all your loves upon earth." - JRR Tolkien

Throughout the retreat week, we ended and began our days with prayer - including a Molieben (Prayers of Thanksgiving for Beginning an Activity), Hours, Morning or Evening Prayers, Vespers and culminating with the Divine Liturgy.

Friday morning, December 30th, began with Hours and Divine Liturgy served at St. George's. Padre Antonio read all of the Priest's parts in Spanish. Four young men assisted him as Acolytes. Most of the remainding participants sang in the choir or acted as "Readers." The Choir, under the direction of St. George's Raul Carenza, held a practice the night before at the Perdomo's home. All of the litanies and much of the rest of the service was done in Spanish. It was a blessed event for one and all!

Christ is born, give glory!

Christ comes from heaven, go to meet Him!

Christ is upon earth, be exalted!

Sing to the Lord all the earth;

and all you peoples raise the hymn with joy,

for He has been glorified!
