Circumcision of Our Lord
Circumcision of Our Lord
Circumcision of Our Lord
St. Basil
St. Basil
St. Basil
Circumcision of our Lord & St. Basil's Feast Day
The Circumcision of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

Troparion - Tone 1

Enthroned on High with the Eternal Father
And Your Divine Spirit,
You did will to be born on earth, O Jesus
From the unwedded Handmaid, Your Mother.
Therefore You were circumcised as an eight-day child.
Glory to Your most gracious counsel.
Glory to Your dispensation.
Glory to Your condescension, O only Lover of man.

Kontakion - Tone 3

The Lord of all accepts to be circumcised.
Thus in His mercy He circumcises the sins of mortal men.
Today He grants the world salvation,
While Basil, high priest of God our Creator,
Rejoices in Heaven as the radiant star of Christ.

St Basil the Great the Archbishop of Caesarea, in Cappadocia

Troparion - Tone 1

Your proclamation has gone out into all the earth
Which was divinely taught by hearing your voice
Expounding the nature of creatures,
Ennobling the manners of men.
O holy father of a royal priesthood,
Entreat Christ God that our souls may be saved.

Kontakion - Tone 4

You were revealed as the sure foundation of the Church,
Granting all men a lordship which cannot be taken away,
Sealing it with your precepts,
O Venerable and Heavenly Father Basil.

New Year's Eve Sing-Along - 12/31/05

Each year since moving to Pharr, right after Great Vespers Services held for the Circumcision of Our Lord at St.George's Church, the Perdomos host a New Year's Eve Sing-Along Party. This year, the Sing-Along was also the ending of our 2005 Winter Youth Retreat.

Carols were sung in English, Spanish and German! Some Scottish Bobby Burns, Carpatho-Russian Carols and Good King Wenceslas also joined the repetoire. Music was played on piano, recorder and guitar. The food was really great, too!

A good time was had by all!

Auld Lang Syne *
(Robert Burns)

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
for auld lang syne

Chorus
For auld lang syne my friend
For auld lang syne
We'll take a cup of kindness yet
For auld lang syne

We two have paddled in the burn
From morning sun till dine
But seas between us braid and roared
Since auld lang syne

Chorus

And here's a hand my trusted friend
And give a hand of thine
And we'll tak a right gude-willie waught
For auld lang syne

Chorus - Verse 1 Repeat - Chorus
